Wild Wild World: China, North Korea, and the Indo-Pacific
The past two years have seen a United States that is both retreating from and begrudgingly engaging with partners and rivals. Against that backdrop, an assertive China seeks to extend its influence beyond its region, most prominently with the Belt and Road Initiative; a nuclear-armed North Korea wants international recognition and freedom from sanctions; and the nebulous idea of a free and open Indo-Pacific is off to a sputtering start.
Join the 17 Lex Society and the Graduate Student Assembly for a discussion on the challenges and promises of the new scenario, with Ankit Panda, senior editor at the Diplomat, and Stephanie R. Golob, associate professor at Baruch College. The discussion will be followed by a Q-and-A session.
