The recent trading frenzy in stocks like GameStop (GME) and AMC Entertainment (AMC) has demonstrated the power of retail traders. In this talk, Professor Yao will talk about the impact on the market by the frenzied option buying activities of the retail traders. The connection between option market and equity market, and the difference of the current market from historical norm will be discussed.
Dr. Rui Yao is a tenured associate professor of finance from the Bert W. Wasserman Department of Economics and Finance. He teaches investment and options at Baruch. His research interests include financial markets and real estate finance. His research has appeared in top academic journals such as Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, etc. He holds a Ph.D. in finance from UNC Chapel Hill.
