Michael Tanney is the Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Wanderlust Wealth Management. With over a decade of experience managing complex global client portfolios, he provides personalized, high-quality investment advice with a focus on the growth and preservation of investable wealth through sound asset allocation and risk management.
Previously, Michael helped run one of the most successful wealth management teams in Goldman Sachs globally. He advised on assets greater than $8 Billion for clientele comprised of Fortune 500 executives, high-ranking government officials, professional athletes, entrepreneurs, partners of prestigious finance and legal firms, multi-generational families, and non-profit foundations. During his tenure at Goldman Sachs, he was able to establish meaningful and lasting relationships across the industry. Most recently, Michael led a Family Office that provided comprehensive financial oversight to wealthy families and built diversified investment portfolios with an emphasis on direct private equity investments in early-stage startup companies.
Michael's dedication to his clients and the industry is evident in his ongoing effort to educate himself and others. Michael earned his Masters of Science in Education, summa cum laude, from Baruch College. He holds the Certified Personal Finance Counselor designation, which is an intensive program that educates advisors on counseling skills and personal financial management. Michael earned a Bachelors of Science from Indiana University and is a founding emeritus member of the Indiana University Distinguished Alumni Council. He guest lectures on financial literacy and entrepreneurship at the City University of New York (CUNY) and is a strategic advisor to CUNY’s Center for Student Entrepreneurship.
Michael is an Eagle Scout award recipient and is actively involved in the community teaching resume building, public speaking, and interview skills at multiple non-profit organizations and serving on the board of the Fontaine Owners Corporation. He enjoys competing in triathlons, experiencing culture through travel, and expanding his culinary palate. Michael currently resides in Manhattan with his wife, Jaclinn, their son, Oliver, and their English bulldog, Britta.
