Message from the Director of Alumni Relations
Last week we hosted a launch event to promote our new partnership with BoardStrong. Formerly known as Governance Matters, BoardStrong advises nonprofit boards on best practices for the leadership and governance of nonprofit boards and offers a nonprofit board matching service which is now available to Baruch alumni. If you are interested in learning more about how to create a profile for their nonprofit board matching service and/or what the responsibilities are to serve on a nonprofit board, check out the April 1 BoardStrong event recording.
This week, we are delighted to announce our renewed partnership with the Financial Gym, an impressive organization dedicated to helping people with their financial health and well-being. Baruch alumni receive a 20% discount off their “gym membership,” which includes a monthly talk with a financial advisor and access to great content on how to be financially savvy. Check out the story above to learn more!
Meanwhile, we stand with our Asian alumni, friends, and family members during another terrible period of unnecessary hate and disillusionment. Our Asian Heritage Alumni Network will reflect on these issues during our May 4th event, Anti-Asian Racism: Past, Present and Change for an Inclusive Future.
We also stand with our Black alumni, friends and family as the Derek Chauvin trial continues to broadcast live on our televisions and devices. The Robert C Weaver Society Black Alum Network is partnering with Baruch’s Department of Black and Latino Studies on The Past, Present and Future of Black and Latino Studies on April 29 for a look back on the creation of Baruch’s department, hear from alumni on how the department shaped their experience, and learn about how the department plans to meet today’s critical needs.
Finally, there are only 47 days left before the Class of 2021’s virtual Commencement. (Imagine taking the last four semesters of your college career entirely online!) If you have an open position in your company or organization, or are looking for an intern for summer 2021, please fill out this employment form and #HireBaruch! And if you are looking for more senior talent, post your open positions on our official Baruch Alumni LinkedIn page. One of the best ways to be a loyal Baruch alumnus/a is by hiring Baruch talent to your team. Thank you.
I hope that you and your family members are in the process of being vaccinated so that we might all gather together soon. In the meantime, stay safe, stay healthy, and I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming virtual event.
